What is ReptileFest?
ReptileFest is a 40,000
square-foot exhibition where people can see hundreds of reptiles and
amphibians from around the world and can buy a wide variety of reptile-related
products. This annual event is organized by the Chicago Herpetological Society
(including its 800+ members) and 2008 will mark ReptileFest's 14th
anniversary.
How is ReptileFest different
from other shows?
Unlike most shows, the primary
goal of ReptileFest is to educate the public about reptiles and amphibians
BEFORE they buy an animal. Because of this, no animals are sold at the event
(other than feeder mice and insects). All exhibit animals are owned by CHS
members or guests, people who can give accurate and honest advice about
keeping herps in captivity and who can make people aware of important reptile
and amphibian conservation issues.
Why should I exhibit at
ReptileFest?
Each year, nearly 3,000 people
attend ReptileFest (in addition to 100+ CHS member and guest exhibitors.) These people visit the event not only to learn about reptiles and amphibians,
but also to purchase supplies for their own animals and to collect herp-related
art, books, and t-shirts. Participating in ReptileFest allows you to market
your products to both new animal owners and experienced enthusiasts, creating
opportunities for present and future sales. It also helps support the CHS, one
of the premiere organizations promoting reptile and amphibian husbandry.
