FOR EXHIBITORS
1.
All
exhibitors must abide by these guidelines and must be members of the CHS.
Other groups may exhibit as guests with prior approval of the show
coordinator.
2.
Since
there are many ReptileFest decorations that will need to be put up in addition
to individual displays, please allow a minimum of two hours for set-up.
In other words, if you're going to arrive Friday after 8:30 P.M., plan to stay
until at least 11 P.M. (And if
you're waiting until Saturday morning, plan to arrive at UIC no later than 7:30
A.M.) If you can bring along a
friend or two to help, that will make things go faster for everyone.
3.
One of the following methods must be used to exhibit animals:
-
a clean, escape-proof cage that completely shields
the animal(s) from contact with the public.
Community exhibits or displays containing more than one species require
approval of the show coordinator.
- an open setup, in which it is possible for the
public to touch the animal(s). Prior
approval from the show coordinator will be needed for such setups. A responsible adult must attend such exhibits at all times.
Provisions must be made for securing the animal(s) off display.
Animals left overnight must be secured.
- hand-held by the exhibitor in a special area set
aside for that purpose. Prior
approval from the show coordinator will be needed for such an exhibit. A responsible adult must attend such exhibits at all times.
Provisions must be made for securing the animal(s) off display.
Animals left overnight must be secured.

animals other than herbivores or insectivores during show hours is prohibited.
6.
It
is recommended that snakes not be fed for at least one week prior to being
displayed.
7.
An
information card will be provided for each exhibit giving common name,
scientific name and geographic range. There
will be room on the card for exhibitors to supply further information such as
natural history, husbandry, etc. Exhibitors should also print their names on the back of each
card.
8.
No
venomous reptiles of any kind are allowed.
9.
Display
of protected species will be allowed only with the approval of the show
coordinator. All required permits
must be prominently displayed.
10.
Exhibitors
are responsible for complying with all federal, state and local laws.
11.
Commercial
exhibitors may affix business cards to each of their exhibits.
Separate space will be made available for extra business cards. No
selling or trading of animals is permitted at the exhibit.
No price lists may be distributed.
